Originally from New Zealand, Ward has a background in interiors and design which fuels her innate understanding of colour and mark-making, intrinsic characteristics of her artworks.

Through a process of layering and revealing pigment on canvas in bold brushstrokes over expanses of textured colour, the boundaries of physical and conceptual are reconsidered. Ward’s abstract gestures capture ethereal concepts, imagined vistas, sensory moments that embody a sense of energy and movement. The works invite viewers to interpret the underlying themes of nature and spirit, control and spontaneity presented in these dynamic compositions.
