Layer Home Event at the Hoxton

Last night I had the privilege to attend the most inspiring discussion I've ever been to.. Layer Home generously hosted the event at The Trendy Hoxton where we had the honour to listen to the stories and advice of Tamara Lohan, founder of Mr and Mrs Smith, Grant Pierrus AKA the Interior Style Hunter, and Renee Elliot who brought Planet Organic to the UK. It was an incredibly inspiring, at times brutally honest, and amusing discussion amongst the panellists in an intimate setting that felt very conversational. Renee now mentors’ start-ups (amongst other things) and her top tip was 'put the mask on yourself first’ and get some sleep... Loved her.

Grant runs a successful marketing agency and Luxury Design Blog - we've all seen his Instagram! and his fabulousness was infectious!

One of my first travel books was a Mr and Mrs Smith hotel guide bought for me by my husband to suggest a weekend away... wink wink.  It's now a go-to travel website for the discerning traveller who wants style, comfort, design and service. Born out of dodgy experience with her then husband, Tamara embarked on a search to find the hotels that are 'all about the feel' Her stories of building the business and juggling children resonated with me and all of the other mothers in the audience. We've all locked the kids in the car at some point but the re-enactment of her entertaining her kids through the window for 30 mins whilst her website fell into a black hole really was hysterical. Her message - keep going, hit a wall? Go around it.  I left with a full heart and a spinning head and it wasn't the Rose...
